LET'S TALK ABOUT THE SEAFOOD SHORTAGE
Update from
Val's as of
May 26th, 2021
"WHY IS THERE A SHORTAGE ON SEAFOOD?"
During the pandemic, farming & fishing around the world was all but halted. Many facilities were forced to let go of staff, which brought production to a standstill.
As restaurants, hotels, and markets re-open to their
pre-pandemic capacities, those who supply seafood struggle to catch up with the demand.
"HOW DOES THIS AFFECT ME?"
Prices will most likely rise at your favorite restaurants, grocery stores and unfortunately, even here at Val's.
We are doing everything in our power to keep our prices at the reputably low price point that you've grown accustomed to. However, as it becomes harder and more expensive to source out the products you love, we are forced to raise prices on some items in order to keep up with the industry markups that we are experiencing.
"WHAT IS VAL'S DOING ABOUT IT?"
We've been in this business for nearly 50 years, which means we have very strong relationships with many of the companies that we source our products from. We are using these relationships to exhaust every option when buying a product. It is our goal, first and foremost, to keep our prices low. Even if it means we have to lose money.
We simply ask that you continue to trust us as your seafood supplier and be patient, because this shortage won't last forever! If you have any questions about this, or anything else, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly at shelby@valsop.com or by calling us at (718) 589-0500.
